I make you these promises:

I promise that if I tell you I will do something, I will do it.

On the planning commission, I made property decisions as if they were being developed near my house.  On county council, I took the necessary steps to make sure I understood exactly how county ordinances would affect you before voting on them.  I will use the same philosophy when voting on state laws.  I promise I will not vote to pass any laws I do not believe are in the best interest of all our citizens.

I cannot promise that you will be happy with every decision I make, but I can promise you that I will listen to you before and after making decisions.  I will consider all opinions before voting the way I believe is best for South Carolina—regardless of party affiliation.

I cannot promise that I will never change my mind on any issues, but I can promise that once I have made a decision based on all available evidence, I will not change my mind without new, compelling reasons to do so.

I promise to treat the State’s money like it is your money—because it is.

I will make every effort to get input from as many citizens as possible when making decisions.  I promise to make myself available and keep my mind open when gathering public opinion.  At one time, District 15 had two or three meetings a year as a way to gather public input and spread information. I think this is a good idea and am willing to implement it if there is interest from our citizens.

I cannot promise that I will not make any mistakes.  In fact, I am sure I will.  My high school principal told me the only way to keep from making any mistakes is to do nothing at all; however, no good things come from that either.  I can promise that when I do make a mistake, I will admit it and do my best to make it right.
